A fascinating and varied ‘green space’ walk. Graveyards are known to enhance health and well being and Greyfriars is no exception. It is one of the oldest in Edinburgh and has an exceptional collection of monuments.

The walk around the graveyard includes all the main areas as well as the most interesting parts. The stroll enables you to see very famous landmarks and monuments. We will also visit two mortsafes, the remnants of one part of the Flodden Wall and a sneak side view of a famous school. There will be plenty of photo opportunities.
We will stop at some of the headstones or memorials associated with the people mentioned in the introduction to this tour. There will be an opportunity to discover the imagery and symbolism on some of the more elaborate mausolea!
There is much to see in this graveyard.
Meeting Point: Main gate entrance (not the side entrance which has steps up to the graveyard) to Greyfriars Church and graveyard. The main entrance is to the left of Greyfriars Bobby pub.
End point: Greyfriars graveyard

Start time: Every 15 mins from 8.30am onwards till last start time of 4.00pm
Please note that in wintertime it will be dark at 4.00pm so not an ideal starting time.
