In the shadow of a volcano, we take a short walk through the Royal Park to Edinburgh’s largest natural loch and Duddingston village. The village is a little hidden gem which, despite changes over the centuries, has managed to retain a quiet rural setting. Our meander will include the village itself.

Lunch at the Sheep Heid Inn, which claims to be the oldest surviving pub in Scotland. The late Queen Elizabeth II had dinner here, though she made no use of the skittle alley, one of Scotland’s few remaining pub skittle alleys
Stillness Service at Duddingston Kirk on Wednesday mornings from 10.00am to 10.30am. The service includes music, a reading and prayer and an opportunity to sit in peaceful silence. Tea/coffee available in the Garden Room afterwards
